3 WAYS TO ACHIEVE ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY BY SELF-LEARNING

As part of learning and evolving an elevated understanding and knowledge of English language, or any language, the most crucial levels in the nexus of proficiency skills are the ones when a learner doesn’t find oneself in-sync to the process. It often occurs due to lack of practical application, lack of accurate communication spaces and a distracted apprehension of the "why" factor, as to the purpose of learning the language itself.

From 'incessantly stressed' to pronounce complicated words correctly and multiple spell checks to making sure the punctuations are in right places, English, both as a language and literature, have been a culminating tool of expression, to represent my individuality with confidence, to platforms of immense opportunities; as well as, to sustain an ease of communication and personal growth.

Here’s a “walkthrough” to showcase - (my personal tested and tried) ways on how to achieve English Language proficiency, to optimum potential!

1. READING LIST ON FLEEK

The Alpha Step towards better learning of English Language

Either we start from Wattpad version of John Green or treat Harper Lee’s ‘To kill a Mockingbird’ as the first step, a consistent reading schedule should be created and followed. To attribute an elevated understanding of a language, it is essential to approach its literary circumference.

Grasping on diverse written work can help in articulating the confidence to speak and use English fluently.

2. INTROSPECT — RETROSPECT

Pay attention to smallest details. Learn what you missed before! Work on poise.

Whether it’s an incorrect use of comma or figure of speech, English can be quite tricky to vulnerable learners. And, therefore, a substantial practical application is necessary to level the field of immense possibilites - possibilites of grammatical errors, blacked out formation of sentences and poker conclusion to an informative body of essay.

So, the best solution is to give oneself the space to communicate and express as much as possible. Either writing journals or taking up online resources to map out challenges (e.g., watching extempore, participating in conversations, ideating your opinions and interpretations through social channels) can add up a milestone on your journey of learning the English language.

3. FOMO — FALLING OUT of MUGGING OBLIGATION

Have you ever wished that you'd have a photographic memory? YAS! All of us did.

And, what was the top reason for it, all the time?

During our school days, remember, we used to have an exercise column in our English subject - Word & Meaning. Cramming up the difficult words, personally, was my favorite part.

But, in times of practical usage, this practice didn’t help much. Infact, it made me conscious of technicalities of English as a language. That, memorising words and grammatical rules does not add to the confidence it takes to communicate your plus points and present them at your almost absolute best.

And, this is where the code - "mirror your observation, create your own impression." is to be applied. To discover how to approach the language one is learning, it is suggested to cosplay your surrounding and apply whatever you are learning, as your own version of self-exposure.
